Advent Calendar 2017! - Day 22

Version: Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas (2006, dir. Charles Visser)

The more obscure these versions of A Christmas Carol get, the further from good their urchin scenes are. Here we have yet another 21st Century adaptation that fails to deliver on the full scene. The Scrooge/urchin scene from A Christmas Carol is just yet another thing millennials have ruined.

It's a sorry state of affairs when a Scrooge/urchin scene that's missing any reference to the turkey can be described as 'decent', and yet here we are. At least this one, unlike the last few we've looked at, has the newly-awoken Scrooge asking an (admittedly pretty old) urchin for the date and reacting in the traditional manner. This is also the only non-musical version that has Scrooge on ground level with the urchin. Despite that, it has a stronger resemblance to the typical Scrooge/urchin scene than most post-2000 versions, so I guess it's something. Scrooge's nightgown is boring and lifeless but hey, at least the urchin is wearing a pretty good cap. Scrooge's reaction to the date is okay; nothing too exciting but it gets the job done and conveys the joy and relief it needs to. Overall, a pretty standard version.

Framing 7 out of 10.
Scrooge's Reaction To The Date 6 out of 10.
Urchin Accent 7 out of 10.
Window Height 0 out of 10.
Scrooge Nightgown Quality 5 out of 10.
Urchin Cap Quality 8 out of 10.

Final Score 5.5 out of 10. It's closer to a traditional urchin scene than most 2000s versions I guess.
